Honouring Maria Oluremi Ajibodu
Maria Oluremi Ajibodu was born in Abeokuta, Ogun State. Although she did not have the opportunity to receive a formal education, she became a hardworking and resourceful businesswoman who raised her family with love, discipline and strong Christian values.
Her home was a place of refuge, encouragement and spiritual guidance for many. She was known for her strength, sacrifice, generosity and deep faith in Christ.
Madam Ajibodu passed away in 2012 at the age of 86, but the values she lived by — love, unity, resilience, hard work, service and godliness — continue to inspire generations.
In 2023, the Maria Oluremi Ajibodu Foundation was established to carry her legacy forward by empowering women, supporting children’s education, improving community wellbeing and strengthening communities through faith-driven humanitarian outreach.
Our Approach
- Community-led: We engage local leaders, families and beneficiaries in identifying priorities and shaping appropriate responses.
- Holistic: We connect health, education, livelihoods, welfare, water, sanitation, hygiene and spiritual support rather than treating needs in isolation.
- Practical: We provide skills, tools, materials, healthcare and direct support that can make an immediate difference.
- Sustainable: We pair urgent assistance with training, mentorship, local capacity and longer-term development.
- Accountable: We document funds, purchases and programme expenditure and make supporting records available for appropriate review.
Who we are today
Today, MOA Foundation delivers programmes in women empowerment, child welfare and education, youth development, community development, water, sanitation and hygiene, medical outreach, health education, humanitarian relief and faith-based social impact.
We work primarily in Nigeria and have extended humanitarian outreach to Uganda. Our goal is to grow through responsible partnerships while remaining rooted in the needs, strengths and voices of the communities we serve.

Catherine Kunbi Adeniran is the visionary founder of MOA Foundation, established in honour of her grandmother’s enduring legacy of compassion, service and community impact.
She leads with purpose and integrity, developing initiatives focused on women’s empowerment, youth development, child welfare, health and sustainable community growth.
She is also the founder and convener of The Lighter Ministry, a faith-driven movement committed to evangelism, spiritual renewal and humanitarian outreach, bringing practical support and spiritual care together.
Catherine is also the founder of Easy Read Publications, which promotes accessible knowledge and positive change through literature. Through each of these platforms, she continues to champion a legacy of faith, empowerment and lasting transformation.

MOA Foundation is a faith-driven humanitarian organisation working across seven programme areas: women empowerment, child welfare and education, youth empowerment, community development, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), medical outreach and health education, and faith-based outreach and social impact.
WASH stands for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene. The programme covers safe-water access, sanitation, hygiene promotion, water safety, community education, local capacity and the systems needed to keep WASH services functioning over time.
MOA Foundation is working with the Global WASH Advisor, Africa, at the Centre for Affordable Water and Sanitation Technology (CAWST) on capacity development. The collaboration is intended to strengthen technical knowledge, training skills, programme design, community engagement, monitoring and sustainability. It is a capacity-building relationship rather than direct project funding.
We support underserved and vulnerable individuals, families and communities, with particular attention to widows, single mothers, children, young people and households facing health, education, livelihood or welfare challenges.
The Foundation works primarily in Nigeria and has extended humanitarian outreach to Uganda. Programme locations vary according to need, partnerships, funding and local capacity.
The Foundation is rooted in Christian values and works in partnership with The Lighter Ministry on faith-based outreach. Our humanitarian support is delivered with dignity and compassion to people in need.
